What To Expect

How do you pronounce Laquerus?

We get that a lot. It’s pronounced ‘lack-er-us’. Now say it five times fast!

 

What’s the vibe like?

In a word, lively! We are not your average nail studio, meaning we’re not a quiet spa nor are we the corner salon you may be used to. We’re an energetic and fun space where you can expect to enjoy popular music played at a louder-than-normal volume, Instagram-able walls and decor, and engaging conversation.

Appointment Booking & Management

Why do I get charged 50% of my service total if I cancel my appointment last-minute, and 100% if I miss it entirely?

As a small business who pays their staff fairly, we require a credit card to hold all appointments. This card will be charged in the instance of a cancellation within 3 hours of the appointment, or in a no-show circumstance. We respect your time as much as we hope you respect ours, and these fees allow us to compensate our nail and lash artists despite their lost appointments.

For parties of 2 or more, the primary reservation holder will be held responsible for all late cancellations and/or no-show charges.

 

How early should I arrive for my appointment?

We recommend that Laquerus® newbies arrive a full 10 minutes before their appointment time to fill out some quick paperwork. Whether a nail or lash client, seasoned pros or “regulars” only need to show up 5 minutes before the appointment to check in and select a polish color/consult with their lash artist. If you think you may need additional time, please arrive 10-15 minutes early. Since we do book back-to-back appointments, we ask that all clients be ready to go when the scheduled appointment starts.

 

I’m running late, what should I do?

DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, PLEASE ARRIVE NO EARLIER THAN 5 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME, WITH A MASK OR FACE COVERING ON. SEE OUR COVID-19 SAFETY PAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

If you’re going to be more than ten minutes late, call us at 608-630-9770 to make sure we can still accommodate your service(s). Appointments are no longer guaranteed 10 minutes after their start time. At 15 minutes after the appointment start time, a no-show fee will be charged to the credit card on file. Please refer to our cancellation policy for more information.

 

I’m having trouble with your online booking – what should I do?

Welp, that’s embarrassing. Give us a call at 608-630-9770 and we’ll get you booked! Oh, and please mention the tech issue when you call.

Pricing & Payment

Your prices seem a little higher than the place I normally go to, what’s that about?

Thanks for asking. We do our best to keep our services as affordable for our clients as possible, while still providing appropriate compensation for our nail and lash artists and delivering on a non-toxic and safe experience. Because of this, it costs us more to give you a mani/pedi or lash service than other salons you might see. Our prices reflect that difference.

 

Do I still have to tip my nail or lash artist?

DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, WE ARE ONLY ACCEPTING CASH IN EXACT CHANGE, BUT PREFER VENMO FOR GRATUITIES. SEE OUR COVID-19 SAFETY PAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

You don’t “have” to do anything, but if you’re satisfied with your service – you certainly should! Gratuities are accepted via cash or Venmo only.

 

What if I want to pay with a different card than the one that I have on file?

No problem. We’ll ask you how you’d like to pay at check-out, and you’ll always have the option to pay with cash, gift card, or credit card (the one on file or a new one!).

 

Do You Offer Packages?

Yes! We currently offer pre-paid series packages for our core nail services only, which include: Regular Manicure, Performance Polish Manicure, Gel Manicure, Regular Pedicure, and Performance Polish Pedicure. The bigger the package, the more you save! Please contact the studio directly for pricing information and details, but here are a couple of quick answers:

1. Packages cannot be upgraded during use. You can, however, upgrade your services on a per-visit basis. No downgrades, sorry.

2. Packages are not transferable. No refunds. No exceptions.

Our Services

What makes Laquerus “non-toxic”?

By being a non-toxic studio, Laquerus pledges that all products used on our clients or sold on our shelves will be free from ingredients that have been found to lead to toxic responses in humans. These ingredients include: phthalates, parabens, petroleum, asbestos, lead acetate, and coal tar. Additionally, all nail care products featured during studio services or sold at retail will be cruelty-free, meaning they were not tested on animals at any point during the production process.

Unfortunately, there are some chemicals that are necessary in the manicuring and lash extension process, as they help with service efficacy. Until we discover a miracle product that is 100% chemical-free, we’ll continue to provide the cleanest services possible without compromising beauty and function. Both our gel and regular polishes are 7-Free at minimum, meaning they are without the following harmful ingredients known to cause health problems including cancer, asthma, skin irritation, and loss of nerve sensation: toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, xylene, and TPHP. Additionally, our eyelash extension glue is free from parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, and latex.

 

Do you reuse all your tools?

Ew, no! Laquerus is committed to providing the most sanitary manicure, pedicure, and lash experience possible to each and every client. You’ll find our nail and lash artists using both reusable implements, such as glass foot files, cuticle nippers, nail clippers, nail art brushes, and tweezers, and disposable, or single-use, tools and items, such as nail files, wooden sticks, toe separators, flip flops, spoolies, and make-up sponges. A full list can be provided upon request.

 

How do you clean your reusable tools?

We uphold the highest standards of hygiene at Laquerus. Stainless steel and glass tools, after each use, are scrubbed with hot water and antibacterial soap to remove all leftover debris. After patting dry, we then place our tools inside our medical-grade autoclave, which uses pressurized heat and steam to clean and sterilize them. All tools are then sealed inside a single-use sterilization pouch for your safety. You’ll always see us unwrapping fresh tools for each new client. We also have EPA certified hospital-grade liquid disinfectant on-hand as another method of disinfection.

Whether you get your nails and lashes done at Laquerus or elsewhere, you always have the right to ask how the salon disinfects their implements!

Group Reservations and Parties

Can I bring my crew?

Totally! Group reservations should be made by phone at 608-630-9770 or email at . Parties of 5 or more may be subject to a 50% deposit of the appointment total.

 

Do you have the same cancellation/no-show policy for groups like mine?

For reservations of 2-3 people, our standard cancellation and no-show policy applies. Group reservations of 4+ people must modify or cancel their appointment at least 12 hours in advance. If a cancellation or reschedule occurs less than 12 hours before the appointment time, the group will be charged a fee equivalent to 20% of the group appointment value.

 

What if we want the whole place to ourselves?

Let’s do it! Occasionally, we’ll close down the studio for sorority parties, bridal and bachelorette events, corporate gatherings, birthdays, and more. If you’re interested in hosting a private event at our studio, email to learn more about pricing and scheduling.

 

Gift Cards

Manis, pedis, and lashes are the perfect gift for any occasion! We offer physical gift cards, which can be purchased by phone or in-studio, and be shipped to you or the lucky recipient. Gift cards can be used for services or retail products, and expire one year from their purchase date. They are final sale and cannot be exchanged for their cash equivalent.

Returns, Refunds and Exchanges

My manicure chipped. Can I get my money back?

If your regular manicure chips within 24 hours after your appointment, stop in and we’ll be sure to offer a touch-up on the affected nails free of charge. Unfortunately, once this 24-hour window has closed, we will not be able to accommodate touch-ups. In the event that the studio is closed, please send an email to as soon as possible, so that we can schedule your repair.

When treated properly, our gel manicures should last between 10 and 21 days. We recommend avoiding hot water and keeping your cuticles moisturized to make this manicure last as long as possible. However, a number of factors can lead to premature lifting and chipping of gels. If you experience a chipped gel mani within 3 days (72 hours) of your service time, please contact us as soon as you can so that we can schedule your repair, free of charge. Unfortunately, once this 72-hour window has closed, all repairs will be subject to a charge of $5 per nail.

 

I don’t like my polish color anymore. Can I get my money back or get my nails re-done for free?

In short, no. We’re truly sorry that you no longer like your polish color, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the selection that you made, whether as a solo effort or as a consultation with your nail artist. We as nail professionals have a lot of decisions to make during a service that we take responsibility for, but sadly, color choice is not one of them. If you would like your regular polish re-done, we will schedule you for a full-price Polish Change. If you would like your gel polish re-done, we will schedule you for a full-price Laquerus Gel Removal and Gel Polish Application ($20), but will only do so within 72 hours of your original appointment. Any service scheduled outside that time frame will be scheduled as a full-price Gel Manicure.

 

Some of my eyelash extensions have fallen out, and I just got my service done. Can I get my money back?

This is a common experience, but just like the hair on your head, your natural lashes are constantly growing and shedding. A person can lose up to 5 lashes (and extensions) per eye, per day, and it’s impossible for your Lash Artist to know which natural lashes are ripe for shedding during the extension application. Albeit frustrating, this shouldn’t be a cause for alarm! If you’re experiencing more loss than what is stated, please contact us immediately so we can help determine what may be the cause.

 

I changed my mind and don’t want to keep the product I bought. Can I return it?

It’s super sad that you were disappointed with the product you purchased. All unopened beauty products or apparel with tags, can be exchanged for studio credit within 30 days. Jewelry, nail polish, cuticle oil, lip products, apparel without tags, Fishbellies, and any opened beauty products are final sale. Products will not be accepted for return after 30 days.
